Wapello County and Ottumwa, Iowa, need daycare services to provide more daycare spots as Ottumwa strives to grow its workforce. The YMCA in Ottumwa is stepping up to meet the need. By partnering with local food producers, JBS, and other grant opportunities provided by The State of Iowa under the guidance of Governor Reynolds, the YMCA in Ottumwa can increase the number of daycare spots available to the growing workforce in Ottumwa. This is accomplished by remodeling their existing space to work more efficiently and adding to the renovated space. In addition, by making the new and refurbished rooms flexible to the changing needs in the daycare field, the YMCA will be able to work with the community as it changes and grows and provide a long-term source for daycare services in Ottumwa.
